We all have had days when we think life dealt us a raw deal, when we feel down, depressed. I have been lucky to have met quite a few exceptional people in my life, be they business people, famous politicians who rose out of WWII, exceptional athletes, able bodied and disabled, even some in my own family. I have met people who made a strong and lasting impression on me.
I only spent a few hours with these guys yesterday, on the chase boat, but they made that kind of impression. We have all heard the expression “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, these guys give the expression a whole new dimension. Losing an arm or a leg is bad enough, when you lose an arm and a leg or several limbs and you can overcome and keep a positive outlook on life, that’s what I call spirit.
Thanks guys for your service, your sacrifice and thanks for showing us that even in what we think are the darkest times our attitude still determines our altitude. It’s been a privilege spending time with you.
